Washington Examiner: Obama’s popular, but only because all those African Americans like him.

This sort of irks me (emphasis mine):

On his 100th day in office, Barack Obama enjoys high job approval ratings, no matter what poll you consult. But if a new survey by the New York Times is accurate, the president and some of his policies are significantly less popular with white Americans than with black Americans, and his sky-high ratings among African-Americans make some of his positions appear a bit more popular overall than they actually are.

What?!

This is really unfortunate wording. It implies that in order to determine whether Obama is popular, we have to throw out African American opinions to find out what real public opinion is.

In fact, I’m having a hard time finding a way to interpret this that isn’t troubling.

Sure, I’m willing to accept that a large percentage of African Americans support the President (and people can debate the reasons for this on their own time; I don’t care to address this). But how does that make him “seem” more popular than he “actually” is? This boggles me.

Really, California Republican Women?

Really? Sigh.

From PE.com:

The latest newsletter by an Inland Republican women’s group depicts Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama surrounded by a watermelon, ribs and a bucket of fried chicken, prompting outrage in political circles.

The October newsletter by the Chaffey Community Republican Women, Federated says if Obama is elected his image will appear on food stamps — instead of dollar bills like other presidents. The statement is followed by an illustration of “Obama Bucks” — a phony $10 bill featuring Obama’s face on a donkey’s body, labeled “United States Food Stamps.”

The group’s president, Diane Fedele, is being roundly criticized for her ridiculous publication, which went out to about 200 members. She claims she got the image in an email and put it in the newsletter but didn’t consider it racist.

She made one of her members feel really terrible.

Sheila Raines, an African-American member of the club, was the first person to complain to Fedele about the newsletter. Raines, of San Bernardino, said she has worked hard to try to convince other minorities to join the Republican Party and now she feels betrayed.

“This is what keeps African-Americans from joining the Republican Party,” she said. “I’m really hurt. I cried for 45 minutes.”

This is the second racist Obama image the state’s Republican party has had to deal with THIS WEEK.

The Sacramento Bee on Wednesday posted an image it said was captured from the Sacramento County GOP Web site that showed Obama in a turban next to Osama bin Laden.

It said: “The difference between Osama and Obama is just a little B.S.” The site also encouraged members to “Waterboard Barack Obama,” a reference to a torture technique. The Sacramento County party took down the material Tuesday after being criticized.

The silver lining in this really ugly story is that it allows a festering problem to be brought to the light and offers the California Republican Party the opportunity to publicly condemn such detestable behavior.

Naked, ugly, racist fear

Here’s this guy outside a Palin event in Johnstown, PA, heckling Obama supporters:

And here’s him in the stands, when he realizes he’s on camera:

Awww…..isn’t it sweet how he gives the toy to a small child he doesn’t even know? It warms the heart.
